Picture a warehouse store, and you might think of people walking the aisles with massive quantities of paper towels and oversized bottles of ketchup in their shopping carts. But these retailers also have plenty of electronics near the entrance to entice customers, including a number of laptops and desktops.
So it comes as no surprise that PCs are among the deals in the Black Friday ads for?BJ's Warehouse, Costco, and Sam's Club, though tablets are surprisingly nearly absent from their ads. And for the most part, the sales aren't on the barest of barebones systems that are often the "doorbusters" at other stores.
For example, Costco is selling an HP dv7t desktop-replacement laptop with quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 12GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, Blu-ray writer, and 17.3-inch for $999.99. It also has a Core i7-powered Dell XPS 8500 desktop with 8GB of RAM and 2TB hard drive for $799.99. (You can get a similar XPS 8500 with 23-inch monitor for $999.99.)
Rounding out Costco deals are a trio of Dell laptops: an Inspiron 15 with Core i3 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and 500GB hard drive for $399.99; an Inspiron 15R that doubles the RAM and hard drive space and swaps out the i3 for an i7 processor for $200 more; and an Inspiron 17R with Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, and terabyte hard drive for $799.99.
BJ's Warehouse has only one desktop deal: a 23-inch Dell Inspiron One all-in-one with Core i3-2120 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 1TB hard drive for $599.99. It also has the HP Pavilion Sleekbook,?HP's take on the ultra-thin laptop (despite also selling Ultrabooks), with 14-inch screen, Intel Pentium 987 chip, 4GB of RAM, and 320GB hard drive for $399, and the Toshiba Satellite L855-S5375 notebook with 15.6-inch LED-backlit display, 6GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive and a quad-core Core i7-3630QM processor for just $599.99.
BJ's is offering sale pricing on three Asus laptops as well, including the 14-inch S405CA Ultrabook with Core i5-3317U Ivy Bridge processor, 6GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive, and 25GB solid state drive for speedier boot-ups for $579.99 and?the X55C-WH31 with 15.6-inch LED-backlit screen, Core i3 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 320GB hard drive for $359.99. ?The $699.99 R500VD-RS71, with 15.6-inch LED-backlit screen, Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 750GB hard drive, is notable as being the only Black Friday PC deals at these warehouses that is a Windows 7 system. You get a free upgrade to Windows 8, but if you aren't interested in the new OS, this Asus special could be for you.?
Sam's Club has the fewest PC offerings of the three warehouse giants, all from HP. It, too, is selling a Pavilion Sleekbook for $399, but it's a much better deal than the one offered at BJ's, as you get a beefier Core i5 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 500GB hard drive. Other HP sales include a 23-inch Pavilion all-in-one desktop with AMD processor, 6GB of RAM, and 1TB hard drive for $499, and an Envy dv6 laptop with Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive, Beats Audio, and 15.6-inch display for $599.
